RE: International Cultural Exchange Program for Classical Musicians
The Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences in cooperation with the Sarajevo Philharmonic, Bosnia - Herzegovinia, is excited to announce a new International Cultural Exchange Program for Classical Musicians.
Five musicians will be selected to participate in the program. The instrumental openings for the 2011-2012 concert season are:
1 oboe, 1 bassoon, 2 French horns, and 1 trombone
Musicians selected will perform for ten months as members of the Sarajevo Philharmonic in Bosnia - Herzegovina. These musicians will play for Opera, Ballet, and Symphonic Concerts. The Sarajevo Philharmonic was founded in 1923 and has played an important role in shaping the musical life of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Sarajevo Philharmonic is a full-time orchestra that currently performs in National Theater in Sarajevo and tours throughout the region. For more information on the orchestra go to:

The musicians selected to participate in this program, will have all of their travel expenses and accommodation expenses in Bosnia and Herzegovina paid for. They will receive a small living stipend; shared housing in an apartment with the other Cultural Exchange musicians; a stipend for public transportation to and from rehearsals; basic health insurance; residency permit; and a round-trip airline ticket from a destination in the US to Sarajevo, Bosnia - Herzegovina.
The International Cultural Exchange Program for Classical Musicians will start September 11, 2011 and finish July 2, 2012. Applicants must be available for the entire ten month time period to be considered.
In order to be considered, the applicants must submit a copy of their performance resume and an unedited DVD of their playing. This DVD should include 5 minutes of a solo work of their choice (preferably without piano accompaniment) and 5 orchestral excerpts selected from the list below. The applicant should also include on the DVD (on a separate track if possible) a short 5 minute talk about why they are interested in participating in this program.

Finalists for the program will be determined by the Artistic Board of the Sarajevo
Philharmonic with Director and Conductor, Samra Gulamovic. All applicants will be
notified of their status by July 15, 2011.
The International Cultural Exchange Program for Classical Musicians is sponsored by
Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS)

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Program Dates:
Musicians applying for this program must be available to live full-time in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina from September 11, 2011 to July 2, 2012.
Application Fee:
There is a non-refundable $25 application fee to apply for the program.
Checks should be included with your application packet and made out to: Bosnian-
Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Deadline:
All applications must be received by June 17, 2011. They will be judged on a first-come basis so interested musicians are encouraged to send their materials as soon as possible.
