Fulbright Student Program
The Fulbright Student program is a 9 month non-degree program intended for independent library research and/or field research toward a Master’s or Ph.D. degree.  Students will establish professional contacts in their field, enhance their scholarly work and gain international experience and personal enrichment.

Fulbright Scholar Program
The Fulbright Scholar program brings scholars to the United States for up to one academic year of professional research with the goal of increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.  Candidates must possess a Doctoral degree and should be prepared to serve as cultural ambassadors.

Fulbright Science and Technology Program
This award is the most prestigious international scholarship in science and technology.  Grantees receive three years of Ph.D. study from top U.S. institutions.  After three years, U.S. universities will be expected to cover the remaining expenses toward completion of a Ph.D.

Fulbright Visiting Specialist Program
Scholars and practitioners with outstanding records of academic, professional and community service are invited to the United States for 3 to 6 weeks of intensive teaching, lecturing and public outreach at U.S. colleges and universities.  Participants for this program are invited from the Embassy.

Hubert H. Humphrey Program
This program brings mid-career professionals to the United States for 10 months of academic and professional work.  The program offers various combinations of coursework, independent projects, internships, seminars, field trips and consultations with U.S. faculty and experts.

Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP)
The JFDP program provides university instructors with a one semester opportunity to experience teaching practices and curriculum development at universities in the United States.  JFDP fellows observe courses at leading universities, participate in professional conferences and seminars, and undergo practical training in their field of study.

Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES)
YES is a new high school exchange program which sends 15 high school students to the U.S. for one academic year.  Students attend an American high school and live with an American family.  YES is a unique way in which young people learn from the American culture and country, and at the same time help education Americans about their culture and country.

Youth Leadership Program
The Youth Leadership Program is a 6 month program with 3 distinctive training segments: a pre-departure orientation in Sarajevo, a 4 week program that offers 18 students and 3 teachers the opportunity to explore the principles of leadership and community activism in the United States; and a 4 month period during which participants conduct a project in their hometowns.  The goals of this program are to engage participants in activities that embody principles of civic activism, to foster personal interaction with individuals who illustrate these principles in practice, and to provide the skills and contacts for youth to conduct similar projects in their own cities.

Fulbright Student Program
The Fulbright Student program is similar to the Scholar program, except that the scholars due not hold a Ph.D.

Fulbright Specialists Program
Similar to the Fulbright Scholar program, except shorter in length.  This program provides short-term (2-6 week) academic opportunities to U.S. faculty and professionals.  A new Fulbright Specialist program is entitled “Direct Access to the Muslim World”.  These Fulbright Visiting Specialists lecture in a variety of humanities and social science disciplines, including the arts, with a focus on Islamic society or civilization.

English Language Fellow Program
This program provides American professional expertise in teaching English as a foreign language by sending Americans on 10 month fellowships to Bosnia.  This program provides foreign teachers and students with the communication skills they will need to participate in a global economy.

English Access Microscholarship Program
This program provides a foundation of English language skills to 14-18 year old students worldwide through after school classes and intensive summer learning activities.  Access students gain an appreciation for American culture and democratic values, increase their ability to participate successfully in the socio-economic development of their countries, and gain the ability to compete for and participate in future U.S. exchange and study programs.

“SUSI” – Study of United States Institutes
This new program offers intensive post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours whose purpose is to provide foreign university faculty and other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of American society, culture and institutions.  The ultimate goal is to strengthen curricula and to improve the quality of teaching about the United States in academic institutions abroad.
