BHAAAS and ASA Hospital gathered experts at a workshop on the treatment of obesity

As part of the First International Symposium in Endocrinology and Diabetology, organized in cooperation between BHAAAS and ASA Hospital, a professional workshop dedicated to contemporary approaches to the assessment and treatment of obesity in everyday medical practice was held today at the ASA Institute.

The participants were addressed in the opening remarks by Dr. Vedka Begović, Head of the BHAAAS Medical Department, who presented the work of BHAAAS, with a special focus on the role of the Medical Department in connecting experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora, exchanging knowledge, and improving healthcare practice through continuous education and international cooperation.

It was emphasized that obesity is a complex chronic disease that requires a multidisciplinary approach, and that symposia and workshops of this kind are of great importance for acquiring the latest knowledge and applying it in daily work with patients.

Special focus was placed on the use of concrete tools and algorithms in practice, body composition assessment, interpretation of findings, and professional, non-stigmatizing communication with patients.

The workshop is led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selma Jusufović, Dr. Enra Đešević, and Dr. Dženana Halilović, who, through practical work and exchange of experiences, introduce participants to contemporary approaches to the treatment and monitoring of people living with obesity.
