BHAAAS President Dr. Adnan Begović to Deliver Guest Lectures at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sarajevo

As part of the program “Transfer of Knowledge from Diaspora Experts to Bosnia and Herzegovina”, organized by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sarajevo will host Prof. Dr. Adnan Begović, a specialist in intensive care and pulmonary diseases, and the current President of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS).

Prof. Dr. Begović, who teaches at the University of California, San Diego (USA), will hold lectures and practical exercises focusing on emergency conditions in pulmonology, with special attention to the recognition and urgent treatment of acute respiratory conditions. Through the analysis of real clinical cases, students will have the opportunity to gain insight into practical examples and modern approaches to diagnosis and treatment.

Speaking about the importance of this program, Dr. Begović expressed his satisfaction at participating in an initiative that connects diaspora professionals with academic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina:

“BHAAAS has for years supported initiatives that strengthen ties between experts abroad and institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Programs like this demonstrate that through collaboration we can advance knowledge, education, and the healthcare system of our country. I am personally proud to contribute to this process and to share my experience with students and colleagues in Sarajevo.”

These guest lectures represent an important step in strengthening academic and professional cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and its diaspora, in line with the mission of BHAAAS — to promote societal development and Bosnia and Herzegovina’s international recognition through science, education, and knowledge exchange.

In recent years, under the organization of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of BiH, several knowledge transfer programs have been implemented, with participation from BHAAAS members including Dražan Erić, Eldin Karaiković, Mirza Pojskić, and Hariz Halilovich. For 2026, an additional five guest lectures by BHAAAS members are planned, continuing the successful collaboration between diaspora professionals and academic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Students, faculty members, and all interested participants are invited to attend these lectures and take the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with one of the leading experts in intensive care and pulmonology.
