Knowledge Transfer from the Diaspora: Professor Ajla Akšamija at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo

As part of the “Knowledge Transfer of Experts from the Diaspora to Bosnia and Herzegovina” program, implemented by the Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the Diaspora Sector, Professor Ajla Akšamija visited the Faculty of Architecture, University of Sarajevo, from March 9–13, 2026.

Prof. Ajla Akšamija, Dipl. Ing. Arch., is Distinguished Chair for Resilient Places and Professor at the School of Architecture, College of Architecture + Planning, University of Utah.

During her visit, Prof. Akšamija delivered lectures as part of the regular teaching program of the Department of Architectural Structures and Building Technology, as well as Architectural Design courses. She also presented a public lecture titled “Innovations in Architecture: Design, Methods, and Technologies for Innovative Practice.”

In addition, a doctoral workshop was organized focusing on scientific research methods, including research methodology, structuring academic research, and the development of research questions.

During Professor Akšamija's visit to the Faculty of Architecture in Sarajevo, the 2026/27 Student Mentorship Program that BHAAAS will organize for architecture students was announced.
