Invitation for Abstracts

Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences invites medical students to submit their abstract for the BHAAAS Medical Students Symposium as a part of the 16th Days of BHAAAS from June 19th to June 22nd in Sarajevo.

Abstract submission will be open from February 27th until April 18th.

Abstracts will be thoroughly evaluated by the Committee, including renowned professors and members of BHAAAS, and the ones of superior quality will be selected for the presentation.

The BHAAAS Medical Students Symposium is a unique opportunity for young researchers, medical students to showcase their research and gain valuable insights for its improvement.

Instructions for students medical abstract submission

During its “16th Days of BHAAAS in Bosnia-Herzegovina”, Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences will organize a Medical Students Symposium for Young Researchers.

  • Abstract submission is necessary
  • All abstract submitters must register for the conference
  • The competitive part of the Symposium consists of 12 oral presentations, with awards presented to the top three for their excellence

 

Type of presentation:

- Original research

- Systematic review

- Case report

 

File format: Your abstract should be in Microsoft Word file.

Title: The title of the abstract should be short and concise.

Author Information: All authors’ names (full first name followed by family name, separated by a comma from the next name) and all authors’ affiliations/institutions.

Abstract Structure: The abstract must contain 5 parts written in the following order: Background, Aim, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. The case report must contain 4 parts written in the following order: Introduction, Case description, Discussion, and Conclusion. Templates are available down below.

Character / Word Count: The abstract should not exceed 300 words. Keywords, title, and titles of abstract parts (e.g. Background, Aim, Methods, Results, and Conclusion part) are not included in a word count.

Language: Official language is English therefore your abstract must be in English. Authors not proficient in the English language should have their abstract edited by a professional biomedical English language specialist.

Important dates

April 23, 2025 - Deadline for submission of abstracts

April 30, 2025 - Reviewer reports sent to authors

May 7, 2025 - Corrected abstracts submission

May 14, 2025 - Reviewer reports and final decision on abstract acceptance

May 21, 2025 -  Final abstract submission

May 26, 2025 - Symposia program finalized

Guidelines for abstract review and acceptance

  • After April 18th symposia chair will receive submitted abstracts related to Student symposia.
  • The chair and co-chairs are responsible for doing the first review and immediately rejecting abstracts that do not fulfill their basic criteria related to quality, context, plagiarism, and self-plagiarism. Chair or co-chairs will notify authors of the abstract rejection. The chair and co-chair will have to finalize this step by April 30th.
  • All abstracts that fulfill scientific criteria should be sent to the medical section review committee on the email [email protected] by symposia chairs no later than April 18th.
  • The review committee will review all abstracts based on technical criteria propagated on the web page and send feedback to authors if any revision is needed. Seven days will be assigned for revision.
  • The due date for authors to make revisions and send abstracts back to the review committee will be May 7th.
  • Authors and chairs will be notified of accepted and rejected abstracts by the review committee no later than May 21st.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Independent student research projects will be prioritized in the selection process, taking precedence over highly specialized studies.
