We are pleased to extend an invitation to our upcoming event on the 16th BHAAAS Days, dedicated to honoring and celebrating the contributions of women in the fields of medicine and science.

Join us for a celebratory event to meet the outstanding and inspirational members of the international medical and scientific community. Together, we will address the challenges faced by women professionals and explore strategies for developing leadership skills, fostering ourwell-being, achieving work-life balance, and advancing collectively.

Having lived the life of a professional woman and being a daughter, wife, mother, leader, mentor, we all know the daily challenges. Let us help each other balance our daily challenges with dignity and joy.

The event is designed to create a vibrant “safe space” where we can share our professional journeys and personal stories. It’s an opportunity to connect meaningfully, foster relationships, and uplift one another as we empower each other to progress.

The event will be an interactive networking and meaningful dialog that will facilitate direct communication between physicians and scientists who have dedicated their expertise and resources to advancing women's careers.

Workshop: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Flood Risk Assessment and Management

Instructor: Venera Simonović, M.Sc. in Seismology and Engineering, Vice President of the Engineering Chamber of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 22 years of experience in public service.

Workshop Overview:

Floods present a growing challenge to infrastructure, environmental stability, and public safety. This workshop will focus on lessons learned from the October floods of last year, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in disaster response and mitigation. Participants will gain insights into field engagement, report preparation, and the role of engineers in disaster risk management.

Key Topics:

• The role of geology, civil, forestry, mechanical, electrical and IT engineers engineers in flood response
• Fieldwork strategies and real-life case studies
• Development of pilot model-simulation projects: rock-mud flows, landslides, forest fires
• The importance of interdisciplinary teams in disaster management
• Data collection, analysis, and report generation for decision-making
• Improving resilience through engineering solutions
• Early warning systems and crisis management caused by extreme disasters

Target Audience:

Engineers, urban planners, emergency response professionals, government officials, and researchers interested in flood risk management and disaster response strategies.

Workshop Format:

We are pleased to invite high school mathematics teachers to take part in the unique workshop "Mathematics and Democracy", organized within the 16th Days of BHAAAS.

This workshop will explore the connection between mathematics education and its real-world role in democratic processes. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with practical and relevant topics that highlight the importance of mathematical knowledge in understanding and advancing democratic societies.
