The Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) and the American Chamber of Commerce B&H (AmCham) held a webinar on "Stress Today and Mental Health" yesterday. Lecturers Dr. Med. Esad Boskailo, MD. Amer Smajkic, Ph.D. Nirvana Pistoljevic emphasized the importance of educating the public about these topics, and they especially emphasized how important it is to recognize stress and anxiety in children because they can be seen from an early age. We believe that these are very important topics, and we call for them to be discussed more often to individually and collectively solve the difficulties and eliminate the consequences caused by these conditions.
Aware of the importance of this topic for all of us, in cooperation with the organization BHAAAS (Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences), we organized a webinar called "Stress Today and Mental Health," which was held on February 16, 2021.
Respected lecturers, and experts in their fields, Dr. Med. Esad Boskailo, MD. Amer Smajkić, and Dr. sci. Nirvana Pištoljević emphasized the importance of educating the public about these topics, and they especially emphasized how important it is to recognize stress and anxiety in children and that these disorders develop in children at an early age. They also pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina should take advantage of the opportunity and hire American experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina as often as possible, who are happy to be available for any type of cooperation in these areas.
"We are extremely glad to start this kind of collaboration with AmCham and perhaps go beyond the scope of AmCham's activities with a topic like this. We from the Medical Section of BHAAAS want to talk about the importance of mental health in BiH in as many ways and with as many partners as possible. and about the mechanisms through which we could jointly improve the level of awareness of citizens about the problem of stress and the impact of the pandemic on the functioning of the whole family. We looked at the effects of this toxic stress on children's development and what serious conditions are possible in children due to these levels of stress and anxiety. at school, to pay attention to the comprehensive development of the child, because everything that is missing developmentally or that negatively affects development will resonate long-term in the lives of these children. Children are the future of every country, and every country must work to protect them, but also their parents and the support systems around them through these difficult times," BHAAAS said.
We believe that these are very important topics, and we call for them to be discussed more often so that each individual, but also all of us together, can solve the difficulties eliminate the consequences caused by these conditions, and work to preserve the mental health of the entire nation.
Once again, we would like to thank the BHAAAS organization and the lecturers who spared their time and contributed.
