Thematic symposium: Models of early detection and treatment of autism in children

"Improving the status of children with developmental disabilities" is the name of the research project that aims to find the best methods for early detection of developmental disabilities in children, establish an adequate protocol for diagnosing autism spectrum disorders, and analyze the indicators of the most effective models of intervention and treatment of atypicality in children's development. The implementation of this project was made possible by the Support Program for Marginalized Groups (PPMG) of the American Development Agency (USAID), and the research is carried out by the Association for the Advancement of Education and Support for Children with and without Developmental Disabilities, "EDUS—Education for All." "Based on the research, a model will be developed that will enable the early recognition of developmental disorders in children. Early detection is very important because it enables, with a high-quality, scientifically proven educational approach, children with a diagnosed autism spectrum disorder to fulfill their full developmental potential, which will ensure greater involvement in society and ultimately a better quality of life," said the executive director of the EDUS Association, Prof. Dr. Nirvana Pištoljević. Early detection and treatment of autism will also be discussed at one of the largest scientific gatherings in the region, the 10th BHAAAS Days (Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences), which will be held from June 21 to 24 at the Termag Hotel, Jahorina, and which is expected to be attended by over a thousand participants. One of the twenty-seven announced symposia at this meeting will be the International Transdisciplinary Symposium in the field of early growth, development, and early learning, dedicated to early detection, diagnosis, and applied methods in working with children with an emphasis on early learning. One of the goals of the symposium is to raise awareness of the importance of a transdisciplinary approach to the early growth and development of children, especially in the field of early detection, diagnosis, and intervention of developmental disorders. Lectures and presentations on this topic will be held in B/H/S and English, and the activities of the project "Improving the status of children with developmental disabilities in BiH" will be presented through five expert presentations: Aida Hajdarpašić-Saračević (Sarajevo, BiH): Salivary miRNAs as biomarkers of ASD Nirvana Pištoljević (New York, NY/BHAAAS): From Developmental Behavioral Scales and Detection to Diagnostic Protocol: Possible Model for Mid- and Low-Income Countries Eldin Džanko (Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina): Pilot study of validation of diagnostic protocol Disorders from the Autism Spectrum Eldin Džanko and Ljiljana Miljanović (Sarajevo, BiH): Analysis of Risk Factors for Early Childhood Development in BiH Nirvana Pištoljević, Eldin Džanko (Sarajevo, BiH): Developmental Behavioral Scales Validation Study: BiH Developmental Norm An international transdisciplinary symposium in the field of early growth, development, and early learning is held on Thursday, June 21, and Friday, June 22, and is intended for psychiatrists, psychologists, pediatricians, pedagogues, educators, rehabilitators, teachers, educators, neuropediatricians, physical therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and special pedagogues, as well as students of all these and related fields.
