On June 5th, Professor Slobodan Radosavljević, a member of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) and president of the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Arts division of BHAAAS, inaugurated the exhibition titled "Architectural Whisper" at the Grand Théâtre de Québec in Canada. This exhibition attracted a record number of visitors, setting a new benchmark for attendance in the history of this prestigious cultural institution. During the grand opening, Mélissa Coulombe-Leduc, municipal councilor of the Quebec district, officially received a disk containing LiDAR data that Radosavljević had collected over seven years for the project and presented it as a gift to the city administration. These records, in the form of three-dimensional scans of the city of Quebec created using the most advanced LiDAR devices, will be utilized for various architectural, urban planning, and historical documentation purposes and hold invaluable significance for the city authorities.
Multidisciplinary Installation
The STUDIOTELUS space has been transformed to host "Architectural Whisper" as a technological endeavor that offers visitors an exciting sensory and visual experience of urban architecture. Signed by artist Slobodan Radosavljević, who worked on its realization for several years, this exhibition, through three-dimensional images of the city of Quebec created using LiDAR technology and projected onto a vast choreographed fabric, allows for constant architectural spatial transformation thanks to its kinetic installation proposition.
Driven by the idea of presenting architecture as a surprising event, Radosavljević combines sculptural elements and video projections to influence the perception of space and time. The installation is based on the dynamics between a flexible canvas (5 m x 28 m) whose continuous movement is enabled by five motors and projections of ethereal images recorded by laser sensors that, through the interplay of transparency and an immense number of details, achieve visual complexity. Through the gentle dance of elements and changes in video projections, the installation, which continuously changes the shape of space, offers visitors an unusually dynamic architectural experience. Video projections and the play of volumes allow penetration into the depth of the image space, generating unique materialities, spatialities, and narratives.
It is essential to emphasize that "Architectural Whisper" is a multidisciplinary project that merges architecture, art, and new technologies, aiming to question the encounter of reality and virtuality in the field of spatial research and architecture. Simultaneously, by creating new sensory and visual possibilities that include the viewer in an interactive artwork through technological innovation, it undoubtedly delineates new territories in the realm of creative research. In this sense, this technological and artistic endeavor by Professor Slobodan Radosavljević, combining science, art, and technology into a unique and unforgettable experience, represents a significant contribution to the understanding and experience of urban space. The exhibition will be available until September 1, 2024.
