Exhibition "Contribution to better (mis)understanding of Bosnia and Herzegovina"

"A CONTRIBUTION TO A BETTER (MIS)UNDERSTANDING OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA" IS THE TITLE OF THE EXHIBITION OF THE WORKS OF AN ARTIST AND BROTHER TANDEM. /PHOTO: FENA/ "A Contribution to a Better (Mis)understanding of Bosnia and Herzegovina" is the name of the exhibition of the works of the artistic and brotherly tandem, sculptor Adis Elias Fejzić and graphic artist Danis Fejzić, which will be opened on Wednesday, June 19, at the Bosnian Cultural Center. The Fejzić brothers talked about the idea of this installation, the messages they send as artists, the exhibits, and the very title of the exhibition in an interview with Fena. This exhibition, as stated by Adis Fejzić, is a visual world of symbols and metaphors with which the authors present some aspects of physical and metaphysical Bosnia and Herzegovina. With this setting, we define our intimate, but also deeply critical, attitude towards the real virtues and flaws, as well as the (un)dreamed-of qualities that proverbially stand behind the name of this country," he states. His brother Danis Fejzić points out that he is particularly motivated by the fact that this is the official first exhibition of the Fejzić duo, a creative and brotherly tandem. Adis Fejzic: Exhibition in Sarajevo THIS EXHIBITION, AS ADIS FEJZIĆ SAID, IS A VISUAL WORLD OF SYMBOLS AND METAPHORS USING THE AUTHORS TO REPRESENT SOME PHYSICAL AND METAPHYSICAL ASPECTS OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA. /PHOTO: FENA/- For the first time, Adis and I joined forces to speak an affirmative story in which we promote something that is the common idea of gathering around Bosnia. About the traditions of Bosnia. About what Bosnia is here and now. Bosnia through the eyes of the local, current man—said, among other things, Danis Fejzić. Speaking about the title of the exhibition, Adis Fejzić emphasizes that the title "Contribution to a better (mis)understanding of Bosnia" was chosen for this exhibition dedicated to Bosnia because it is a nice title that is at the same time pretentious and composed almost on a street level. - The first word adverb saves us from any excessive responsibility and perhaps pretentiousness. Because this is just one small "addition,"  someone can bypass it and should understand it that way. It is not a sacred letter, nor does what we say about Bosnia have to be binding for everyone, believes Adis Elias Fejzić. Speaking about the works that will be presented in BKC, Adis Fejzić states that the work of his brother Danis, which will be presented with graphics, has a critical, perhaps even "poisonous" attitude towards everything that is destroying Bosnia. While he, Adis Fejzić says about Fena, was more concerned with "putting together what was already taken apart and existed as if put together for centuries." I was interested in the integrative factor for all the contexts that fell apart, while Danis criticizes all the destructions that happen every day, he thinks. At the exhibition, the brotherly duo Fejzić will present the works that they have exhibited in previous years, and a certain number of works will be exhibited for the first time. Among other things, a cycle dedicated to Mako Dizdar will be exhibited, as well as prints of the sacred texts of the four dominant religions in BiH—Judaism, Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Islam—written in Bosnian. The exhibition was realized as part of the manifestation "Days of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Sciences and Arts" (BHAAS). Addis Elias Fejzić (Addis) is a Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Australian sculptor. He graduated from the High School of Applied Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, where he received his master's degree. Although primarily a sculptor by training, Adis Elias Fejzić is a visual artist with a wide range of creative interests; in addition to sculpture in stone and other (non-traditional) materials, his artistic oeuvre also includes works in the fields of graphics, painting, calligraphy, and graphic and industrial "design." Danis Fejzić graduated from the Department of Graphics in 2001 (in the class of Prof. Dževad Hoza) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo. He received his master's degree at the same academy in 2011 (in the class of Prof. Dževad Hoza). In 2017, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the International University of Novi Pazar (Serbia). He exhibited several times independently and is a participant in numerous exhibitions in the country and abroad, as well as a lecturer at several international conferences. He is employed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, Department of Graphics. He currently holds the position of president of the Association of Fine Artists of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
