With the largest number of experts from the USA, Canada, Europe, and the countries of the region, the Bosnian American Academy of Sciences and Arts (BHAAAS) organized this year the international conference "Days of the BHAAAS in Bosnia and Herzegovina." The conference will last until May 29 at the "Sunce" Hotel in Neum.
As stated for "Avaz," Dr. Nirvana Pištoljević, a psychologist from Columbia University in New York and member of the Board of Directors of BHAAAS, which also participates in the work and organization of the meeting—the name of this year's conference is "Knowledge is divisible wealth.".
The conference is mainly devoted to medical topics because most of the members of this Bosnian-American academy are from the medical profession. High patronage The Ministry for Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the sponsor of the eighth annual meeting of the "Days of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Sciences and Arts in Bosnia and Herzegovina." On this occasion, Minister Semiha Borovac pointed out that this already established BiH-American Academy—"in" terms of the number and profile of its membership, but especially in terms of activities—is one of the most significant organizations of the academic diaspora of BiH in the world." We are ready, considering all the results and all the activities that the Academy is doing, to change the policy towards the diaspora in BiH," said Minister Borovac, announcing the preparation of a special document that will define the policy of the state of BiH towards the diaspora. Borovac said that Sarajevo is officially "aware of the overall contribution and influence that the BiH diaspora has on economic, social, educational, and cultural development in BiH." We want to deepen these ties and bind Bosnia and Herzegovina's diaspora for the development of BiH and in such a way that we see it as an important link in the Euro-Atlantic integration of BiH," said the minister at the media conference, dedicated to the eighth meeting of American and European experts in Neum, organized by BHAAAS. Dr. Kenan Arnautović, a distinguished American neurosurgeon and member of the Academy, announced a joint symposium of neurosurgeons, who, as he says, have tied up with the associations of neurosurgeons in Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to them, as Arnautović says, experts from Albania, Montenegro, Turkey, and other countries also participated in the symposium. Arnautović thanked the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina and especially Minister Semiha Borovac for the support that "always supported and developed this cooperation." He announced that an agreement on cooperation with the University of Osijek will be signed in Neum, and cooperation with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade is being prepared. In addition to the USA and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the participants of the Eighth Meeting of Scientific Workers organized by BHAAAS also come from Canada, the Netherlands, Malta, Norway, Germany, Sweden, Turkey, Great Britain, Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia. In addition to medical topics, which are the most numerous this time—as part of the program in Neum—Pištoljević announced the holding of 14 symposia from different fields, stressing that these meetings organized by BHAAAS remain traditionally multidisciplinary. A special symposium on innovative and interdisciplinary applications of modern technologies is planned in Neum, which will be led by the distinguished prof. Ph.D. Mirsad Hadžikadić, director of complex systems and computer science and one of the deans at the University of North Carolina. Record number The organizer of the conference, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Sciences and Arts (BHAAAS), will present the largest number of 260 lecturers from the USA, Canada, the Netherlands, Malta, Norway, Germany, Sweden, Turkey, Great Britain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and other countries from Bosnia and Herzegovina. neighborhood. These participants come from the world's most prestigious university centers, clinics, and other academic institutions. Thus, as many as nine lecturers come from the famous Mayo Clinic. Among them is Dr. . Mary Fabry, a psychologist from Chicago, who will be a guest lecturer at the symposium on psychiatry. dr. For 20 years, Fabry was the director of the cancer clinic "Bosnian mental health" clinic in Chicago. She helped and treated refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina who survived trauma. This is her second visit to BiH. She has given hundreds of lectures all over the world on the health consequences of war and is the recipient of the world's greatest recognition in the field of understanding trauma and its treatment. In total, over 1,000 participants are expected at the 8th BHAAAS Days: doctors, scientists, professors, nurses, and technicians, as well as students from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider region. Organized by BHAAAS members and specialists in intensive care medicine, also from the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Emir Festić, and others. Ognjen Gajić, this year's conference also organized a symposium on intensive care medicine, which is dedicated to quality improvement and clinical research. Experts from the USA, Croatia, and Serbia will share their experiences with domestic colleagues in various domains of this branch of medicine. As announced by the information department of BHAAAS, the symposium will cover everything from sepsis and mechanical ventilation to informatics and international studies, including intensive care units from BiH and the region. Practice and theory As in previous manifestations of this type organized by BHAAAS, practical workshops were also organized in Neum. This year, in addition to the topic of ultrasound examination of the critically ill, a workshop on percutaneous tracheostomy is also being held. On the BHAAAS days in Neum, a multidisciplinary oncology symposium was organized, which will be led by Dr.Gordan Srkalović, director of clinical studies at the Center for Malignant Diseases and Blood Diseases of the Sparrow Hospital System in Lansing, in the American state of Michigan, where Dr. Srkalović works as an associate professor at the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Srkalović has published and presented over 130 papers in the most prestigious journals, such as the "New England Journal of Medicine" and "The Journal of Clinical Oncology." Prevention is first and foremost. As part of the same symposium, Dr. Lejla Hadžikadić-Gušić will lead the section dedicated to current updates in breast cancer treatment, from surgical oncology to reconstructive surgery. She is a surgical oncology specialist at the Levine Cancer Institute and Carolinas Healthcare System Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Hadžikadić-Gušić completed her surgical oncology residency at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and spent two years as a researcher at Boston University. Her clinical interests include premenopausal breast cancer, breast cancer in young women, as well as women's breast cancer health internationally. By the way, Dr. Hadžikadunić-Gušić is also active in the local Bosnian community, where she promotes and educates women about breast cancer once a year. Dr. Lejla teamed up with the AVON Group in Bosnia and Herzegovina in an attempt to promote public awareness of breast cancer. She is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Surgical Oncology and the incoming Director of Young Women in Breast Cancer at the Levine Institute. The orthopedic-traumatological section of BHAAAS continues the tradition of gathering and exchanging experiences at these meetings with a large number of surgeons who deal with the treatment of injuries of the musculoskeletal system and spine; the mentioned doctors come from many different places in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It should be said that this type of cooperation between BiH scientists in the USA started during and after the war in BiH, based on individual engagement and contacts. In the meantime, BHAAAS has made it possible to raise it to a higher level and expand, giving everything professional legitimacy and an organizational platform. This led to the founding of the Congress of Orthopedists and Traumatologists of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which includes all the centers in the country.

Mirsad Hadžikadić, Director of Complex Systems and Computer Science at the University of North Carolina. This two-day symposium will include complex systems, biomedical engineering, power systems, telecommunications, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and computer science. This type of symposium is unique because of its breadth of field, which is rare in technical fields that are mostly specialized. This is especially important for today's world, which is increasingly dependent on technologies that do not know technological and geographical barriers. For the first time in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a measuring instrument for monitoring the development of children is presented during a symposium in the field of early growth and development and pediatrics. The significance of this two-day transdisciplinary symposium is that scientific works and research conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina under the mentorship of American and other professors will be presented—to improve the early growth and development of children in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Michaela Erjavec, who is a professor and scientist from Bangor University in Wales, also participates in the work of the conference, with lectures at two symposiums in the area of early growth and development, where he will present the results of his research with children in Great Britain and Ireland and will also talk about changes and influences on a healthy diet. This will also be presented at lectures on child psychiatry, where they will talk about research into the prevention of "ridiculous children at all levels in schools." Prestigious institutions The program of this year's conference includes a wide range of interesting scientific topics, BHAAAS said. In addition to medicine, members of the BiH American Academy of Arts and Sciences have prepared symposia in the fields of technology, psychology, natural sciences, and humanities. Some of the participants come from famous American clinical centers, such as "Sparrow Regional Cancer Center," "Semmes Murphey Clinic," "Levine Cancer Institute," "Columbia University," "University of Bangor, North Carolina University," "Arizona State University," "Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center," and "Advanced Plastic Surgery of North Shore."
