New great recognition for the composer in New York

The work of Sarajka Svjetlana Bukvić was recognized again this year. Professor of music business, electronic music and composition, and sound for film, is the winner of the ASCAP PLUS award again this year. Svjetlana Bukvić, a Saraj who lives and works in New York, is the winner of this year's ASCAP PLUS award, which is awarded by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). This award, with which Bukvić was also awarded in 2020, is awarded to members of the association whose works have been performed in unexplored media and whose catalogs have prestigious value. Namely, Svjetlana's story began in Sarajevo, where she studied and graduated in composition and musicology at the Academy of Music. In search of colleges that offered the opportunity to merge the old with the new, she applied and was accepted to New York's Rensselaer Polytechnic University, which was then establishing America's first multimedia arts program. The expensive school fees were paid by the university, and Svjetlana did not give up going despite the war. After going through a breakneck journey, Svjetlana finally arrived at her dream destination—New York City. She finished her studies on time, was among the best students, and worked with the best artists in NY. Today, she is employed at New York University, where she teaches music business, electronic music and composition, and sound for film. She did not give up her homeland, on the contrary. She thinks that successful experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, who live all over the world (of which there are many), should bring knowledge to their homeland. It also establishes cooperation between music institutions in New York and BiH to contribute to the quality and development of this branch in our country. Since she is a member of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS), she will visit Sarajevo in June 2022 the organization of this association to prepare a cultural program.
