Panel at the ASA Institute: How Artificial Intelligence Is Shaping Modern Medicine

At the ASA Institute in Sarajevo, a panel discussion was held, bringing together international and local experts from the fields of medicine, technology, and science to address one of today's most pressing topics – the application of artificial intelligence in modern medical practice.

The panel, titled "Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in Medicine: Innovation, Ethics, and Safety", was part of the medical program of the 16th Days of BHAAAS and opened up essential conversations about the future of healthcare, with a special focus on ethical challenges, patient safety, and the need for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Moderated by Dr. Vedka Begović, clinical professor and co-chair of the BHAAAS Medical Section, participants shared concrete examples of AI applications – from neurosurgery and intraoperative 3D imaging, to gynecological robotics and the Da Vinci system, to cardiological diagnostics and the use of AI tools in local hospitals.

The panel featured top experts from Australia, the USA, Germany, and Bosnia and Herzegovina: Dr. Aida Branković, Dr. Mirza Pojskić, Dr. Azra Sadiković, Dr. Austin Robinson, Dr. Emir Gušo, and Enes Hatibović.

The panel’s conclusion was clear: AI does not replace doctors – it supports them. The key lies in responsible and ethical use, ongoing education, and collaboration between the medical and IT sectors.

The high level of interest in this event once again confirmed that BHAAAS continues to successfully spark important dialogues and connect knowledge from around the world – right in the heart of Sarajevo.
