SARAJEVO/TUZLA, 06.10.2010: From October 20 to 22, Tuzla will host the second "Days of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Sciences and Arts (BHAAAS)" of origin in the USA and Canada, whose common goal is to help Bosnia and Herzegovina with their knowledge. The Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Sciences and Arts (BHAAAS) was founded in November 2007 in the USA with the initial desire to connect the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diaspora in North America and Canada on professional and academic grounds, as well as to establish bridges of cooperation and knowledge exchange between the BiH diaspora. and scientific, academic, and cultural institutions in the mother country. The celebrated BiH writer Aleksandar Hemon, who this year holds the position of president of the Academy, especially emphasizes that BHAAAS has so far achieved significant results in connecting BiH experts, scientists, and artists, both abroad and in our country. All members and there are currently 131 of them, contribute to the mission of the Academy with their professional reputation and activities. In addition to numerous activities in North America, the Academy organizes the event "BHAAAS Days in Bosnia and Herzegovina" once a year, during which scientific meetings, lectures, panels, and public events are organized. Last year, this event was held in Sarajevo, and this October it will be held in Tuzla, in cooperation with the office of the mayor of Tuzla, Mr. Jasmin Imamović, the Rectorate of the University of Tuzla, the University Clinical Center in Tuzla, the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and ANUBIH. As part of the BHAAAS Day, the Medical Section of the Academy will hold a large number of workshops and lectures, and on this occasion, over 40 recognized experts from the USA and our country are expected to participate. Furthermore, members of the Academy who work in the field of humanities and culture will participate in panels and discussions related to the future of civil society and democracy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The crowning event will be a concert by the Sarajevo Philharmonic, with the guest conductor Mrs. Diane Wittry from the USA and the renowned guitar soloist Denis Azabagić, born in Tuzla, and his flutist wife Eugenia Moliner, both members of the Academy. The locations in Tuzla where the program will take place are the Rectorate and the Clinical Hospital Center, while the concert will be held in the Bosnian Cultural Center on Friday, October 22, starting at 7:00 p.m. Entrance to the concert is free.
