Presentation of the monograph

The Bosnia and Herzegovina committee/branch of the International Council for Large Electrical Systems (BH K/O CIGRÉ) will be an active participant in these events. This professional organization established a partnership with the aforementioned academy last year, which resulted in the organization of three symposia and the publication of scientific works by the prestigious Springer publishing house. This year, according to the announcement of Edhem Bičakčić, president of the BH committee/CIGRÉ branch, they will be co-organizers of four international symposia in the field of technical sciences: Symposium on Advanced Power Systems, Symposium on Power Quality, Symposium on Standardization and Implementation of Standards, and Symposium on Modeling and Simulations in Engineering. Two round tables on advanced techniques of signal processing and analysis in power systems and automatic voltage regulation in modern power systems are also planned. The days of BHAAAS will also be an opportunity for Bosnia and Herzegovina's energy workers to present their past activities and plans, the content of the monograph on 25 years of work of the BH committee/branch of CIGRE, and ideas about the formation of a technical museum in Sarajevo. It was agreed and made official that Dr. Nirvana Pištoljević, president of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and Edhem Bičakčić, president of the BH national committee/CIGRÉ branch, will sign a protocol on long-term cooperation, with a special focus on the cooperation of experts and scientists from the USA and BH. In it, among other things, support for the construction of the Technical Museum in the center of Sarajevo will be confirmed. In anticipation of these important events in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences as well as in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian committee/branch of CIGRE, they are pleased to point out that the positive effect of their cooperation attracts the attention of the public both in the USA and in BiH. The Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences is a non-profit, non-governmental, impartial, multi-ethnic, and multicultural organization whose exclusive goals are educational, scientific, and humanitarian activities. It was founded in Charlotte, USA, on November 3, 2007. The mission of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences is to promote and develop the arts and sciences of the Bosnian diaspora in America and Canada and to establish connections between Bosnia and Herzegovina with scientists, artists, and experts from North America and BiH and build bridges of cooperation with the homeland. The Academy promotes the spirit of intellectual diversity and the free exchange of ideas among the diaspora and the scientific community from BiH, with the belief that knowledge is a shareable wealth. Every year, BHAAAS Days are organized in one of the cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the annual assemblies of the Academy are held in the USA.

Bringing importance back to the publication

The Bosnia and Herzegovina committee/branch of the CIGRÉ International Council for Large Electrical Systems considers it important that their president Edhem Bičakčić became a member of the Administrative Council of CIGRÉ Paris. In the last two years, the activities of BH K/O CIGRÉ have been activated in the CIGRÉ regional committee for Southeast Europe (SEERC), but also established cooperation with the national committees of neighboring countries. The 13th Consultation of BH K/O CIGRÉ was successfully held, at which conclusions related to the work of BH K/O CIGRÉ and the state of the electric power sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina were adopted. In the previous period, several round tables were organized that discussed issues in the area of interest of the power engineers of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, under the auspices of BH K/O CIGRÉ, the Bosnian Committee/Branch of CIRED was formed—BH K/O CIRED—as a leading professional organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina that deals with professional and scientific problems in the field of electricity distribution. The professional magazine Bosnia-Herzegovina Electrical Engineering is gradually beginning to return to the importance it was originally assigned, primarily through the quality and quantity of published works and the publication of works in English, under the highest scientific, professional, and technical standards.
