Mark Attila Hoare's book presented in Sarajevo

"Bosnian Muslims in the Second World War" In the Bosnian Cultural Center (BKC) in Sarajevo, a promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held tonight. edition of the book "Bosnian Muslims in the Second World War" by the British historian and associate professor at SSST in Sarajevo, Mark Attila Hoare, reports Anadolija. The promotion of the book was attended by professor Husnija Kamberović, historian from Novi Sad Milivoj Bešlin, translator of the work into Bosnian language Emir Suljagić, and journalist Amilardo Gutić. The author of the book stated that, above all, in this work he wanted to investigate the significance and issues of the people's liberation struggle in the Second World War and explain how and why Bosnian Muslims massively joined the People's Liberation Movement (NOP) and how this enabled the partisans to win the war. "I wanted to show the importance of that struggle, and especially the role of Bosniaks-Muslims in it and how they played a key role in the victory of the partisans. I wanted to show that in this book and to show that Bosnia and Herzegovina was very important for the whole event in the Second World War," said Hoare, noting once again that the role of Bosnian Muslims in the National Liberation Movement (NOM) was very important. "Partisans could not have won in that way if they had not supported Bosnia and Herzegovina as a state, as a unit, and if they had not then ensured the participation of Bosnian Muslims," said the British historian. He noted that he hoped that this book could at least change the perception of the relationship between the Muslims of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the People's Liberation Movement."There is a widespread stereotype that the partisans were mostly Serbs. But that was not quite the case. The Serbs were of course important and had an important role, but the Muslims were also important; they had a special role," said Hoare. Suljagić, the translator of this historical work, pointed out that it is very important that this book appeared in the Bosnian language and that it is available to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. "It is about a work that exposes several things—the essence of the Serbian nationalist narrative in the Second World War in BiH; it reveals a part of our history that was realistic, I won't say covered up, but I can say, somewhat hidden, away from the eyes of experts and the general public. Thirdly, as a result, this book sheds a completely different light on the role of Bosniaks in the Second World War and on the unique contribution that Bosniaks and Bosniak elites and the people made to the People's Liberation Movement, and the anti-fascist struggle gives reason and the right to be proud of what our ancestors did in the Second World War in Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Suljagić.  Muamer Spahić, the editor of the book published by the publishing house "Vrijeme," pointed out that the book speaks mostly about the relationship between the Muslims of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the National Liberation Movement. "In a way, it is a deconstruction of the myth of a monolithic resistance movement that was controlled by the communists from top to bottom, with the focus of the book being directed towards local, local events. The book has aroused great interest among the general public, including experts. It is about a book, which is the best-selling book in Bosnian bookstores, which is particularly interesting because it is a professionally written book," said Spahić. The promotion of the book was attended by numerous well-known figures from the political, cultural, academic, and public life of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a large number of citizens and students. Hoare previously published the book "Genocide and Resistance in Hitler's Bosnia," which focused on the experience of the Serbs. This second book focuses on the experience of Bosnian Muslims (Bosniaks).
