Dr. Lejla Hadžikadić-Gušić and her team published the first guidelines on the treatment of breast cancer in BiH Guidelines published in the prestigious Bosnian Journal Of Basic Medical Sciences At last year's 12th BHAAAS Days scientific conference in BiH, organized by the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) in Mostar, a successful round table on breast cancer was held, led by our distinguished doctor from the USA, Lejla Hadžikadić-Gušić. The result of that round table is the first BiH guidelines on the treatment of breast cancer, which will greatly help doctors and health institutions in BiH to improve the treatment of this wicked disease. The guidelines were also published in the prestigious Bosnian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences. It should be noted that most countries have international and national guidelines for the treatment of breast cancer, but in our country, they do not exist.
It is very important to have such a document that is regularly updated based on scientific research. Now in BiH, we can more successfully and strategically treat patients according to the latest professional recommendations. For breast cancer, this is very important since it is a field of oncology that is often changed and supplemented according to the latest research and recommendations of the most reputable clinics in the world, said Dr. Lejla Hadžikadić-Gušić, who, to implement this project, gathered breast cancer specialists from BiH and the diaspora and wrote the first guidelines for BiH.
I am very proud of this project and thank BJBMS for publishing this work of ours. Guidelines are a very important strategy for our profession—to standardize treatments from hospital to hospital, from city to city. Thus, all doctors, from smaller or larger cities, can give their patients the same recommendations, says Hadžikadić-Gušić and adds that this is the first step for doctors, while the next step will be the competent ministry, which will give recommendations on where to invest and invest for women. breast cancer patients.
Dr. Lejla says that it took a long time to assemble such a professional multidisciplinary group of specialists.
They are wonderful people and colleagues, and I am truly grateful for everything. We are very proud as a group of this work. I would also like to thank BJBMS for supporting and publishing this work, she said, and she called on all medical students and young doctors to go forward and look for opportunities to work with doctors abroad because it is very important for clinical or research work, but also for their future careers.
