BHAAAS member Dr. Nina Jovanović - invited panelist at the prestigious SAVIR international conference in the USA

Dr. Nina Jovanović, a member of BHAAAS, participated in the prestigious international conference of SAVIR (The Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research), one of the most eminent meetings of international experts in the field of injury and violence prevention, which took place from April 5 to 9 in 2021. SAVIR is a professional organization that provides leadership and advances scientific achievements in the field of injury and trauma prevention, and this year the organizer and host were the John Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy (JHCIRP) and the John Hopkins International Research Unit (JHIRU). On the first day of the conference, a Career Panel was organized in cooperation with the CDC (Center for Disease Control, U.S.), in which six experts from the field of injury prevention participated, five from the USA and one participant from Bosnia and Herzegovina, our member Dr. Nina Jovanović, with the guidance of Dr. Eileen McDonald, director of The Johns Hopkins Center for Injury Research and Policy. The panel lasted an hour and a half, and the invited panelists had the task of sharing their experiences and perspectives on their professional careers and scientific research work in the field of injury prevention and management. By invitation of Dr. Nina Jovanović, the organizers of SAVIR showed a great honor to Bosnia and Herzegovina by inviting the representatives of our country to participate in the meeting and exchange their knowledge and experiences with colleagues from all over the world. "For me, personal presence as a panelist at this prestigious event is a great privilege and honor, given the participation of leading international experts in the field of injury prevention," said Dr. Nina Jovanovic. Dr. Nina Jovanović, an ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon from Bosnia and Herzegovina, completed her Master of Public Health studies at the University of Iowa as a scholarship holder of the Iowa Injury Prevention and Research Center and the Fogarty Foundation at N.I.H. The U.S. In her long-term research work, she is dedicated to researching the extent of eye injuries in Bosnia and Herzegovina, adult and child age, risk factors and protective factors, models for predicting visual acuity, and socioeconomic and social consequences of ocular trauma. In cooperation with IPRC Iowa, she published four publications in leading reference international journals and presented at several professional meetings. He is currently an Advisory Committee Member for iCREATE (Increasing Capacity in Research in Eastern Europe, now focusing on Georgia, Armenia, and Moldova).
