The Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) and its ophthalmology section (Oftalmologijabih) proudly announce their collaboration with the Turkish Ophthalmological Association (TOA) as part of the 5th International Ophthalmology Symposium, taking place on June 21, 2025, in Sarajevo, during the 16th BHAAAS Days.
This year’s symposium is titled “Corneal, Ocular Surface, and Refractive Surgery”, and with the support of TOA, it will feature two expert panel sessions, a young ophthalmologists (YO) session, and a hands-on topography/tomography workshop with an interactive quiz. The focus is on the exchange of knowledge and innovations between experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, the Balkans, and the global ophthalmology community.
“We are honored and privileged to announce that the Turkish Ophthalmological Association (TOA) will participate in the 5th BHAAAS International Ophthalmology Symposium. This year, together we are expanding the frontiers of expertise and strengthening academic and clinical cooperation in the region. BHAAAS continues to grow every year, gathering more members from both the homeland and diaspora, with our primary mission remaining the promotion of education and knowledge in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the broader region.” – stated Dr. Adnan Begović, President of BHAAAS.
For 16 years, BHAAAS Days have been bringing together experts, scientists, and students from medicine, technical, and humanities fields, with the mission of building bridges of knowledge and cooperation. The partnership with TOA further reinforces the shared vision of advancing the professional community and benefiting patients.
A message of appreciation and collaboration was also shared by a representative of TOA:
“The Turkish Ophthalmological Association is pleased to contribute to this year’s program through two scientific sessions, sharing expertise in corneal and ocular surface diseases. We warmly invite colleagues from across the Balkans to join us in strengthening scientific ties in a region where we share a rich and common history and heritage. We sincerely thank BHAAAS for this opportunity for friendship and collaboration.” – stated Dr. Huban Atilla, on behalf of TOA.
