A unique competition for PhD students from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the diaspora

For the winning presentations, over 19,000 KM in prizes were provided. The Future Foundation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in cooperation with the Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (ANU BiH), the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Sciences and Arts (BHAAAS), and the Bosana Foundation organizes a unique competition for Ph.D. students from Bosnia and Herzegovina and those who have their origins in BiH. 3MT (3-Minute Thesis) provides students with a research opportunity to develop their academic, presentation, research and communication skills, and community leadership skills by explaining their research to an audience outside of their field. Given that the competition includes researchers and students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as from abroad, the competition will take place online. The Future Foundation points out that the competition has several goals, the key ones being the creation of a strong community of researchers, communicating important research to the general public, and strengthening communication and other important skills of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ph.D researcher. Why should you apply? As a Ph.D. student, you will have the opportunity to present your doctoral thesis, improve your communication skills, and, through participation in the first competition of its kind, meet other researchers around the world and be part of a strong community. To apply for the competition, students must meet the following conditions:

  • Presentations will be held in English (the international language of research).
  • Presentations are limited to 3 minutes, and contestants who exceed 3 minutes will be disqualified.
One static display (no transitions, animations, or "motion" of any description) is allowed.
  • The video can be recorded at home or elsewhere, but it must only have one camera angle taken from a static position. Zooming in and out of the static position is acceptable. You must be visible during your presentation.
  • During the recording, the audio must be continuously present—without editing, interruptions, etc. For this reason, you must be visible during the presentation.
  • The video is considered to have started when the student starts the presentation with movement or voice (the opening student slide is not included during the presentation).
