Mostar to Host Educational Workshop as Prelude to the 16th BHAAAS Days: Mathematics and Democracy for Social Change

Mostar will host the continuation of a series of workshops in early 2025, announcing the 16th Annual Days of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) in Sarajevo, scheduled for June 19–23 of that year.

The focus will be a two-day workshop titled "Monitoring and Evaluation of Student Achievements," set to take place on January 4–5, 2025, at the prestigious United World College (UWC) in Mostar. The workshop is intended for high school mathematics teachers and will feature Professor Ismar Volić, a distinguished BHAAAS member and renowned academic from Wellesley College in Boston.

Professor Volić, widely recognized for his contributions to algebraic topology and as the founder of the Institute for Mathematics and Democracy, will share his extensive experience from over 200 lectures delivered in about 20 countries. His expertise and interdisciplinary approach to mathematics and democracy provide insights into how these fields can support societal development.

This workshop not only enriches educators with new knowledge but also lays the groundwork for future generations in Bosnia and Herzegovina by strengthening the educational system. Enthusiasts and experts from across the country are invited to attend and contribute to discussions that will introduce new perspectives on educational practices.

Among numerous other events, this workshop serves as an introduction to the upcoming 16th BHAAAS Days, bringing together a wide array of experts in Sarajevo and making it a hub for scientific and cultural knowledge exchange.
