Prof. Dr. Zarema Obradovic, "Protecting the health of passengers in international traffic." From the preface: "From year to year, a global trend of growth in travel as well as the number of people traveling can be observed."... "In new environments, travelers encounter different lifestyles, customs, and conditions and are exposed to the risks of contracting various, first of all, infectious diseases." potential health risks and measures to reduce them. This information is requested from doctors, pharmacists, employees of tourist organizations, and employees of insurance companies. As a result of that need, the book "Health Protection of Passengers in International Traffic" was created, which is now in your hands. The book deals with the most common health risks that can be associated with travel, classified according to the means of travel, that is, the types of means of transport. One part of the book is devoted to a detailed description of the activities that should be done before the trip, which aim to minimize risks during the trip. The book presents the basic characteristics of the most common infectious diseases associated with travel. The following are described: the causative agent, the mode of transmission of the disease, the clinical picture, the geographical distribution, and, what is particularly important, the risk for travelers and preventive measures." The fact that so far this is the first book that deals with the entire issue in our region and beyond from the subject area is surprising. The author, Prof. Dr. Zarema Obradović, a member of the "Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Sciences and Arts" since 2009, has included in this work the latest world knowledge, as well as her own experiences, since she is an active actor in all significant situations and events concerning public health in our country. ”The value of the book is in the comprehensiveness of all relevant factors in all phases of the trip (before, during, stay at the destination, and after returning). It is written in a light, understandable style, acceptable to the average reader. In addition to general recommendations for possible health risks, there is also specific travel information: by airplanes, cruise ships, and land traffic, and they refer to: tropical diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, as well as through food, water, insects, circulatory disorders, changes in pressure in a closed space, the harmfulness of UV radiation, etc. The bibliographic data (78 items) show that the content of the book corresponds to the basic, but also the latest world knowledge from this very specific public health field." Assoc. Ph.D.Sc. Sead Karakaš: "The book "HEALTH PROTECTION OF PASSENGERS IN INTERNATIONAL TRAFFIC" appears at the moment of world globalization and at the same time "civilizational confrontation," and already in that sense it leaves the framework of classical scholastic medical literature and acquires full relevance in life. It is a comprehensive, complete work that has been processed in a modern way using the latest knowledge and with the presentation of his points of view by a very competent author. Another significant and perhaps even more important circumstance is that until now there was no adequate literature in our country that would cover in an instructive way all the important aspects and health risks for passengers in international traffic. It should be noted that we have received a very useful book in our language, which for the first time in our country covers matters of great practical importance. The author has given her contribution here in a very clear, concise, and reviewed manner that will be acceptable and useful to students, doctors, and specialists in public health, but also to all those who, by nature of their work, deal with this issue.....
