Roko Markovina is a retired university professor and an honorary member of BHAAAS. He was a representative in the Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1990 to 1996; he is the holder of the "May Award of the City of Mostar" in 1983 for sports; in 1990 and 1991 he was chosen as the most popular citizen of Mostar according to public polls; and in 2015 he was the winner of the prestigious Mostar Award.
