We are proud to share that our member, Dr. Lejla Hadžikadić Gušić, an oncologic surgeon at the Levine Cancer Institute, has received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Education.
This recognition is a testament to her years of dedicated work, commitment to medical education, and selfless investment in the development of future generations of physicians. Throughout her professional journey, Dr. Hadžikadić Gušić has continuously demonstrated the importance of knowledge, mentorship, and a compassionate human approach in medicine.
Particularly inspiring is her dedication to teaching and mentoring, which she sees as a way to honor the mentors who shaped her own professional path while also passing on her knowledge and experience to future physicians.
An especially emotional moment was her participation in the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026 at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where she shared one of the most meaningful milestones of her academic and professional life alongside her family.
Within the BHAAAS community, we deeply value members who represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the highest international level through their work, while remaining dedicated to education, collaboration, and supporting new generations of professionals.
