Dr. Esad Boškailo, president of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Science and Arts (BHAAAS): THIS ACADEMY GIVES AND DOES NOT ASK FOR ANYTHING Our long-term cooperation with the Sarajevo Philharmonic is very successful. We ensured the participation of musicians from the USA in the Sarajevo Philharmonic. For years, we have sponsored young musicians who spend one year in Sarajevo and thus enable the continuation of the work of the Philharmonic... We are working to strengthen ties with ANU BiH. Until now, this cooperation was mainly expressed during the BHAAAS day in BiH. And whenever we approached someone from ANUBiH, we encountered understanding and support... I think my biggest project was organizing the BHAAAS day in Brčko. We organized one of the largest scientific gatherings in the region; around 270 presentations were held for a thousand participants. It is impressive to have lecturers in Brčko from four continents, and experts in technological, sociological, and medical sciences from all over the world. We launched an initiative to introduce a standardized test in education in schools in BiH, the so-called PISA test. Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the few countries that does not use this important test during schooling to bring science programs to our schools under one standard. Our member, Prof. Ismar Volić, initiated this project in the Education Sector in the Ministry of Civil Affairs, who recognized the importance of this initiative. ... Politicians are running away from science, especially in BiH. We at BHAAAS will continue to do what we know best, which is science and art, and thus strengthen our society. We will continue to prove with science that borders in human communities should be erased because they are the biggest obstacle to progress and humanism. I have to mention here that finally, our people must turn to the future; we must give up the "victim role" because the victimization of our people mostly serves local politicians who use it to hide behind demagoguery and inaction.
