SARAJEVO, May 26 (FENA) The eighth annual meeting entitled "Days of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Sciences and Arts in BiH" began today in Neum and will last until May 29. It is an international scientific meeting that will gather around 1,000 participants from BiH and the region and 260 lecturers from the fields of medical, technical, and social sciences and arts from Canada, the United States of America, the Netherlands, Malta, Norway, Germany, Sweden, Turkey, Great Britain, Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia, and BiH. It was announced that 14 symposia will be held in various fields. At the opening of the meeting, the president of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Sciences and Arts (BHAAAS) Azra Terzić, BiH Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Semiha Borovac, and Director of the USAID Mission in BiH Peter Daffy addressed the attendees. In her address, Minister Borovac expressed her satisfaction that the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the sponsor of this gathering. In BiH, we are aware of the role and influence of the diaspora, especially the scientific diaspora, on the social, economic, cultural, and educational development of BiH. That is why we are ready to change the policy towards the diaspora to tie it more to Bosnia and Herzegovina," Minister Borovac pointed out. According to her, the interest of Bosnia and Herzegovina is certainly to direct the enormous human resources of the diaspora towards the sustainable development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. society and the state. - We consider the Bosnian diaspora on all continents to be an indispensable and particularly important part of our homeland and a very important link on BiH's path to Euro-Atlantic integration. There is no doubt that our people, regardless of whether they live here or in the diaspora, are the most precious capital of our country," said Borovac. She reminded us that BiH "has made significant progress in terms of Euro-Atlantic integration, and we expect that BiH's application for membership in the European Union will soon be accepted in Brussels." Borovac said that in addition to European integration, BiH is also focused on economic reforms to improve the living standards of citizens, the rule of law, and the fight against organized crime and terrorism. One of the key foreign policy priorities is the activation of the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP). - In all these issues, we see the possibility of the action of our diaspora and you specifically, because we consider you the true and best ambassadors of our country in the world," Minister Borovac said. In the afternoon, a member of the BiH Presidency, Mladen Ivanić, joined the meeting, and welcomed the enormous enthusiasm that the members of the Academy put into their work.
