Support for education: The youth organization BHAYA donated valuable titles to schools in Breza

With the aim of improving education and easier access to knowledge in the local community, the youth organization BHAYA, the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American youth academy operating within the framework of BHAAAS, donated books that will significantly complement the library fund in two high schools in Breza. These are books that are part of the regular reading at the Mixed High School "Mehmedalija Mak Dizdar" and the Gymnasium "Muhsin Rizvić".

The donation of valuable titles was presented by Kenan Begović, president of the BHAYA organization from San Diego, USA. This is already the second year that donations have been organized by young people from the diaspora, who last year donated books to the city library in Tuzla.

"Despite the lack of modern facilities, there is a palpable commitment to education in these schools, which can be seen especially through the reaction of director Indira Likić when she saw the new books that her students will soon have access to." This is our small contribution that reminds us of the universal importance of education and how important projects like this are for local communities, providing support and encouragement to efforts so that students have the necessary resources for work and education," said Kenan Begović.

The mission of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Youth Academy (BHAYA) is to develop strong intellectual and cultural ties between young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States who believe that the young generation should take leadership and responsibility for how society looks today and how it will look in the future. Their goal is to promote an active exchange of ideas, knowledge and experiences among young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States.

Headmistress of the mixed high school "Mehmedalija Mak Dizdar" in Breza, M.Sc. Eng. Indira Lekić expressed her satisfaction with the donated books, stressing that this is an exceptional contribution to the improvement of education.

"Books are a window to the world, and this donation will enable our students to expand their horizons, develop critical thinking and acquire new skills. We are especially glad that young people through the BHAY organization recognize the importance of investing in the education of their peers in BiH. We thank you for your selfless support and we are happy that we can be a part of this positive story that contributes to the development of our society".

The initiative to donate to these schools was initiated by Mr. sc. Nadina Grebović-Lendo, director of the Library of the University of Sarajevo.

"Through cooperation with our partners in the network of libraries, we learned about the story of two schools under one roof, the mixed secondary school "Mehmedalija Mak Dizdar" Breza and

Gymnasium "Muhsin Rizvić" Breza. Although they have different teaching programs, these schools participate in a number of projects and organize joint activities, which shows the interest of students and teachers in building a knowledge society by putting

cooperation" - said Grebović-Lendo, noting that the University of Sarajevo is one of the coordinators of the National Library Awareness Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The president of BHAY, Kenan Begović, thanked the staff of secondary schools in Breza for the cordial acceptance of the donation and the possibility of continued cooperation in the future, on projects like this and similar ones. He also expressed the hope that this donation will significantly contribute to the improvement of educational conditions and the motivation of students for further success.
