The medical program of the 17th BHAAAS Day brought together hundreds of participants and confirmed the power of connecting experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world

We proudly concluded the 17th Days of BHAAAS and concluded that our organization is stronger and bigger than before, and its impact and mission accomplishment are significant and not negligible. As the president of BHAAAS, prof. dr. Zlatan Akšamija, emphasized at the opening ceremony, we once again witnessed the construction of "bridges" between distant destinations, disciplines, ambitions and actions.

"The medical division of the 17th Day of BHAAAS gathered a large number of health professionals, scientists and researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and the world, confirming the importance of our conference as a space for knowledge exchange, education and the establishment of new forms of professional cooperation. It is encouraging to see advanced health teams and young experts from BiH connected with international experts, with the aim of improving the health system and improving the health of our citizens." - emphasized Dr. Vedka Begović, specialist in internal medicine and one of the heads of the Medical Department of BHAAAS.

As part of the professional program, more than 15 international symposia were held where the most modern approaches to treatment, diagnosis, prevention and regenerative aspects of medicine were discussed. Scientific papers, literature reviews, guidelines by international domestic experts were presented. It is encouraging to see that advanced health teams of young experts from BiH are presented, connected with international experts for the purpose of future cooperation, all with the aim of improving the health system of Bosnia and Herzegovina and improving the health of our citizens.

One of the greatest values of this year's conference was the active participation of distinguished domestic experts and members of the BHAAAS network who work at the world's leading universities, research centers and health institutions.

"Through the direct exchange of experiences, mentoring and discussions, professional friendships were strengthened and doors opened for new joint research projects. Solid foundations were laid for education and cooperation with institutions across the country, thereby setting an example that science and culture have no borders. In this spirit, cooperation with the most important medical and educational institutions continues and expands, including KCUS, ASA Hospital and Institute, Medical Faculty of the University of Sarajevo and SSST." - pointed out Dr. Nina Jovanović, specialist in ophthalmology and head of the Medical Department of BHAAAS.

It was especially encouraging to witness the meetings between mentors and medical students, who crowned a year of intensive and productive digital education that resulted in quality scientific papers. SSST students showed exceptional maturity and responsibility in choosing the focus of their activities, who organized the BHAAAS Days in their institution, focusing on the impact of chronic diseases on the burden on the health system, the economics of health and the dynamics between the public and private sectors. Also, the Bohems student organization successfully presented the scientific works of students who passed a strict selection process, and the best three works were awarded with awards. At the end of the program, experts looked at the current moment of using AI technology in medicine — its challenges, unknowns and opportunities in clinical practice.

The conclusion of this year's medical section is that Bosnia and Herzegovina has significant professional and scientific potential. Through continuous connection with international partners and experts from the diaspora, this potential can strategically improve health care, medical education and scientific research. Young experts are the bearers of that future. Strengthened by this year's success and achievements, with enthusiasm and new energy we look towards our next 18 Days, June 17, 2027, remaining faithful to the same mission that guides us.
