A large number of established scientists and experts from around the world, to exchange ideas and create new initiatives, will gather from June 1 to 4, 2023, in Tuzla for the 14th annual BHAAAS Days in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The organizer of the event is the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS), which since its establishment in 2007 has been working to establish and strengthen ties between Bosnian scientists, artists, and professionals in the diaspora and to build bridges of cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina and the entire region. The conference program will consist of presentations by distinguished experts and students in a series of symposia, special sessions, round tables, and workshops, and this scientific program will be accompanied by many artistic and cultural events. BHAAAS Day aims to encourage interaction between participants and to promote meaningful networking opportunities. "The beginning of the largest scientific event in Bosnia and Herzegovina is approaching. Now we have the opportunity to host this extraordinary gathering of hundreds of world-class experts in Tuzla, one of the oldest Bosnian urban communities. The four-day gathering that we have scheduled for the beginning of June will be an opportunity for all participants to share their knowledge, learn something new, network, and make new friends. Together we can send a message that the future is based on knowledge and the exchange of ideas and that this is the only and best way for professionals to contribute to society and make life better," said Amer Smajkić, President of BHAAAS. As part of this year's BHAAAS Days, 24 symposia will be held, and among them are the largest number of those from the field of medicine, where the latest achievements in medical practice will be exhibited along with hands-on training and practical workshops. "Achieved progress in medicine will allow all attendees to grow as healthcare professionals and to be better scientists and leaders in their fields. The program of medical symposia is designed so that healthcare professionals learn, mentor, and connect and network with their colleagues," said the organizers. The BHAAAS Department of Natural and Technical Sciences will organize seven professional symposia from all fields of engineering and information technology and two special events that will bring together experts from the fields of chemistry and biotechnology. In addition, students are offered rich content that includes a full-day workshop in computer modeling. One of the programs will be the Sustainable Development Program of BHAAS, which this year also approaches the development of inclusive, resilient, and sustainable progress through interdisciplinarity, encouraging scientific and research publications. Experts from the fields of economics, architecture, urbanism, construction, energy, and forestry, in addition to scientific presentations, will have the opportunity to attend special sessions. Some of them are disaster risk management and reduction in cooperation with the Council for Regional Cooperation of Southeast Europe (RCC), the Green Design Biennale, panel discussion on urban green standards in cooperation with the Association of Landscape Architects, sustainability of socialist period hotel facilities in cooperation with the Architectural Faculty in Sarajevo, as well as the Forum on the new European Bauhaus.
