The scientific conference, the 13th days of BHAAAS in BiH, will be held in Sarajevo from June 23 to 26, organized by the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts. and Science—it was announced today at the press conference. As it was said, the 13th days of BHAAAS in BiH will host more than 1,000 participants, including hundreds of lecturers from 26 countries, who will teach at 33 symposia with 350 presentations at four locations in Sarajevo. In addition to the symposium, a special program has been prepared, which will include lectures, workshops, round tables, and exhibitions, and special attention will be paid to the program for students. The patron of this scientific event is the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina. BiH Assistant Minister for Human Rights and Refugees Kemal Sarač said that the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences is the only BiH organization of scientific and academic type that gathers about 300 distinguished doctors of science, researchers, artists, and professionals from Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to him, although they are perfectly integrated in the receiving countries, the members of this prominent emigration organization do not forget their homeland, which is also confirmed by the continuity of the Academy Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This, he stated, is a reflection of the willingness of the members of the Academy to share the knowledge and experience gained outside their homeland with their colleagues, students, and the scientific and academic community in BiH in general. - Members of BHAAAS come to BiH several times a year, and voluntarily, they pass on knowledge to generations of young people at schools and universities throughout BiH, and they also selflessly share knowledge in the field of medical sciences with their colleagues in BiH, performing this once and the most complex medical interventions, thus providing healthcare assistance to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said Sarač. He added that the value of the work of BHAAAS members was also recognized by the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has been supporting the work of the Academy since its foundation. According to him, the Ministry continuously provides funds in its budget to support the Days of BHAAAS. President of BHAAAS, Prof. Dr. Sci. Ismar Volić, said that the main topic of the conference is sustainability. - Sustainability is a global existential problem that can only be solved, firstly, by interdisciplinary academic work and then by cooperation with the public and private sector. It is precisely this necessity of investing in scientific research work for sustainability and collaboration between various sectors that is the message we want to send at this conference, said Volić. He added that they are also proud of the program for students, which consists of workshops, round tables, and lectures. According to our unofficial assessment, the 13th days of BHAAAS are the biggest scientific event in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We offer knowledge, education, and science as a guide for progress and something on which the future of this country should and can be based," concluded Volić. Vice President of BHAAAS and President of the Medical Section of BHAAAS, Dr. . Amer Smajkić, said that in this segment they have prepared 18 symposia and four special events. We have an increased number of participants from BiH, which we are glad about. When it comes to us who live outside the country, we are represented in 26 countries around the world," he stated. He noted that during this year's program, all medical branches and fields were represented. Member of the organizing committee of the 13th day of BHAAAS, Dr. . Tijana Tufek-Memišević, spoke about the sustainable development program during the 13th day of BHAAAS. Climate change, the impact of which we are already feeling significantly, together with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and together with these continuous war conflicts in the world, has greatly slowed down, even stopping the process of reaching the goals of the United Nations, which were imposed as common global values of sustainable development. What we at BHAAAS have recognized is the importance of that sustainable development, and through an interdisciplinary program we have secured four thematic symposia. - announced Tufek-Memišević.
