Workshop on "Optimization of Mechanical and Hydraulic Systems for Industrial Efficiency" Held at INTERA Technology Park

A workshop titled "Optimization of Mechanical and Hydraulic Systems for Industrial Efficiency" was held at the INTERA Technology Park, led by the esteemed expert Dr. Želimir Husnić, a member of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) and an engineer with over 30 years of experience in mechanical and hydraulic systems and control systems.

The event was organized as part of the mentorship program of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian-American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAAS) in collaboration with the City of Mostar, INTERA Technology Park, and the Naša Perspektiva Association, with support from the USAID "Diaspora Invest" project.

Dr. Želimir Husnić, an engineer with more than 30 years of experience, is recognized as an expert in the field of mechanical and hydraulic systems, control systems, and project management, with extensive experience in both industrial and aerospace applications. Throughout his career, Dr. Husnić has held leadership positions at Boeing Defense and Space and at SOKO Aircraft Industry in Mostar, where he led testing, diagnostics, and optimization of various mechanical systems. His combination of academic knowledge and practical expertise has made him a respected authority in mechatronics, system diagnostics, and technical project management.

The workshop gathered industry representatives, technical experts, and students from Mostar and the wider region, who had the opportunity to learn from Dr. Husnić, one of the leading experts in industrial system optimization. With a special focus on mechanical and hydraulic processes, Dr. Husnić highlighted the importance of adopting innovative approaches in the industry, explaining how these systems can significantly increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.

"The transfer of knowledge and expertise from the diaspora is crucial for strengthening industrial capacities and innovation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the City of Mostar is a great example where such initiatives are achieving concrete results. Through cooperation with our diaspora experts, Mostar is creating a platform for knowledge exchange that is vital for the advancement of the local industry and the development of professional competencies across the region. Mostar has proven to be a leader in supporting these projects, which further contributes to connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina with global trends and technologies," said Lejla Tahirović from BHAAAS.

During the presentation, Dr. Husnić shared his extensive experience and expertise, pointing out specific techniques and technologies that can help industrial facilities optimize their operations. Through practical examples and real-world case studies, participants had the opportunity to understand how changes can be effectively implemented in mechanical and hydraulic systems.

"The need for optimization and efficiency has never been greater, especially in the context of rising energy and resource costs. Today's workshop showed that the industry is ready to adopt new technologies and innovations to improve its performance," stated Dr. Husnić, emphasizing the importance of continuous education and adapting to technological trends.

Today's event is part of a series of educational programs within the BHAAAS and local community partnership with USAID, aimed at improving the technical knowledge and capacities of industrial professionals in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"It is a great pleasure to visit these companies and witness their dedication to innovation and development," said Dr. Želimir Husnić. "Through such visits, we can feel the energy and motivation driving local business initiatives, as well as their efforts to implement the latest technologies and optimize production processes."

In addition to the lecture as part of the Diaspora Invest project, Dr. Husnić also held a lecture for students at the University of Džemal Bijedić in Mostar and distributed free copies of his book "Oil Hydraulics," which he authored.

Following Livno, the workshop in Mostar is part of the broader BHAAAS and USAID's Diaspora Invest project, which aims to connect local companies with diaspora experts. BHAAAS continues to organize similar events across Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special focus on smaller communities, to enhance business capacities through the transfer of knowledge and experience.
